St Marys,  NSW

While doing my Masters I was working on the new Western Sydney Airport Metro line in Sydney interviewing public transport users about the new stations and carriage designs. While testing in the St Marys area I noticed a lot of cancellations from our wheelchair participants, eventually we found out that there were streets within the St Marys station precinct that had no footpaths, and thus forced wheelchairs and prams onto the road with cars and trucks. This inspired the topic or walkability to St Marys future Metro station and how urban design can battle inequality.
